I've managed to make an entry for the PaperArtsy Blog Challenge again this week......at the last minute as usual, lol! At least I have a good excuse this time though as I've been having a clear out of stash I've sort of outgrown. It makes me cringe with guilt looking at the pile of stuff I'm finally turfing out of my craft cupboards but I know I will never use it so out it's going, some to the charity shop and lots to my little grandson's childminder where I'm sure it will give lots of pleasure although it does seem sacrilege to cut up all that pearlescent card........enough card blanks to stock a shop, lol! It's taken me several days to go through everything and I think my next job should be doing the same with my wardrobes and clearing out the stuff I've 'outgrown' in there too. I'm just kidding myself if I think I'll ever fit in quite a lot quite a lot of that again, lol!
Anyway, on to my challenge make. One of the designers this week was Joanne Wardle and I always find her deceptively simple looking cards impressive and not so simple to actually create. This week's example, which you can find HERE, was no exception and I had to improvise a bit because I didn't have the relevant PaperArtsy stamps or indeed anything like some of them.
For the slightly splattered circles in the background I used a circular foam blender to apply the paint circles and then spritzed with water to make them 'fuzz' round the edges. I don't have the PA splatter stamp either but found a wood backed one (no name on it) that has survived my stamp cull (I've found new homes for a lot of my wood backed stamps). The stitch effect line is from a clear set I've had for years and the rings were made with a bottle top. What I did have though is the fabulous set of pretty JoFY Fresco Finish paints. I think I need to get another set of these limited edition paints while the going is good because I can't stop using them, lol!
That's it from me for today. Here's wishing you all a sunny Sunday with a pleasant week to follow, See you again soon.
Hugs
Lesley Xx

That is gorgeous, Lesley!! I love your choice of stamps, and the 'smile' is perfect! Hope you haven't got rid of too many wooden stamps, I love mine!!
I did something very similar a year ago - it feels very good once it's done but it does take time to do. CB & Penny Black stamps survived plus a few odd others too but not many. Deceptively simple strikes a chord for the thought & experience that lies behind is not visible. I love your version of the original - those red buttons really pull the eye in.

Lovely result and creative way to create the large splats. So brave of you to cull your stash... I am too scared I would have regrets later!
You are so brave having a serious cull of your stash - something I really should do but haven't plucked up the courage yet!! I love this 'deceptively simple' card and know that the description is so right - I always find the simple ones the most difficult to achieve.
This is absolutely fab Lesley, so effective!

I haven't been crafting long enough yet to have a 'cull'; I can't imagine it really! I'm still in the position where I'm finding I 'need' this and that! This card is so lovely! You're so right that Jo's cards are 'deceptively' simple. I love what you have created here. It's inspired by Jo's creation but very much your own. Perfect! Julie Ann xxx
Creative and resourceful Lesley and a beautiful piece of art!! love it! x
Great use of 'found' objects for your stamping, really nice card. I am a terrible hoarder, not so much stash but empty boxes and envelopes etc lol basically i collect rubbish lol
This is beautiful Lesley! xxx

Great card Lesley, love how funky it looks and the placement of all elements is just perfect!
wonderful! you did a fantastic job of recreating the effects on my card. are the colours amazing. by the way. I lobe the touch of red. wouldn't have thought of that working with those colours but it really does!
Your improvisation is amazing, love that funky flower. You have made me feel guilty too, I have so much stash that I never use....... time for a clear out here too! Anne x

Beautiful Lesley, you have done a fabulous job with this design xx
CAS cards are my favorites, they are always a challenge, love your accurate description lol.
Beautiful card Lesley, great improvisation and a lovely colout palette, lovely make:-) xxx
That's gorgeoys Lesley. Love the contrast of the clean and freah design and then the splats.
I have quite a few pre scored pearlescent cards and haven't thrown them out thinking I'll use them as backers for toppers - but do I remember when I'm making a topper? What do you think.lol

I reckon it's this spring weather making us clear out, isn't it, Lesley. I started on my wardrobe today although don't think I can bring myself to do the same in my craft room, it's soooo hard to get rid of craft stash!!!!
Love your card, it's very different to your usual style.
hugs Lisax
Lovely splatters, and the contrasting red buttons are so zingy!
