Feeling a bit sorry for myself!

Hi everyone, it's been a lovely sunny day here but still quite cold unless it's just me. I woke up in the night on Sunday with a really painful throat and it has developed over the week into the worst cough and cold I've had in years, hence the 'feeling a bit sorry for myself'. I had plans for a mega catchup both of housework (sorry to use bad language) and crafting projects but I've done neither and think I'm going back to the settee with my cuddly blanket and the dog for company, when I've done this post. Hubby's away tonight so I can be miserable in peace, Lol!

I wanted to do this post though because it was my birthday last week and this year I got four lovely handmade cards which I wanted to share with you because they are all totally different but all absolutely beautiful. The first three are from my Craft Stamping Quartet friends and I can't believe the amount of time and effort they have put into these gorgeous cards.

This beauty is from Jo

Look at the gorgeous warm colours and the lovely background inking on the base card and on the tag.

This wonderfully classy card is from Judith and had a boxelope to match.

Look at the beautiful chiffon flower she made.

And this stunner is from Elaine.

I can't believe the work she has put into this. It would take me months.

Finally this one is especially dear to my heart because it was made by my daughter Jenna. I'm really proud of it because she has hardly any crafting equipment and has had no tuition or experience with stamping at all. She was a bit annoyed because she hadn't got any smooth card so of course the image wasn't as clear as she would like but I think she has done brilliantly. What you can't see in the photos is the detail on the images. Because she didn't have any embossing powder or a heat gun (she has now I've given her my spare) she has used Glossy Accents to highlight some of the design and has also gone round other parts with a very fine black pen to highlight it. I thought it was a very effective idea and I can see I'm going to have some family competition when she's picked up a bit more expertise.

I love that Elusive Images sentiment.

It was so lovely to receive these handmade cards and they mean an awful lot to me so thankyou girls.

Hugs (virtual ones so you don't catch my cold, Lol)
Lesley Xx

You poor thing! There seem to be some nasty germs around at the moment. Your cards are stunning! I've had nine handmade ones this year (including one from Meg) thanks to being on two DTs. I don't think I'll ever want to take them down! Hope you had a wonderful Birthday. Didn't realise ours were quite so close together. Hope your throat feels better soon x

Hi Lesley

I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

Wow! Jenna has inherited your impeccable taste in stamps. I think sometimes having lots of crafty products at our disposal makes us think along well defined tracks whereas Jenna has been more inventive. Her penwork has made the stamped images look really original. I am going to try that with some of mine now.

I'll be pinching the photos of my card, if you don't mind, Lesley. I'm glad I forgot to take some before I posted it as your photography is so much better than mine!

Poor you Lesley, really sorry to hear you are still feeling so rotten - you need to get better very soon.

Thanks for sharing your cards. It's the first time I have seen Jo's and Jenna's and they are so lovely. Jo's is such a beautiful warm colour and brings together such lovely elements. Jenna's is great - she is going to give us all a run for our money, this is a lovely card and as you say being inventive by using glossy accents and a pen shows just how much of a natural eye she already has.

Take care Lesley and keep cuddled up.

What lovely cards and what a shame some generous soul decided to give you a cold and cough as a present!! I do hope you feel better soon, at least well enough to craft (never mind the h****work).
