Another little box ........ this time it's a gift.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your visit, it's lovely to have you drop by.  Have you melted yet?  I have to own up to having had a totally unproductive day in every respect.  I definitely do not function at all well in heat and it has definitely been hot here today.  If it weren't for the cost of fuel I would have gone for a loooooooonnnnngggg drive in the car just to sit in the aircon, lol!  Even now at 23:20 it is still 28c and I think sleep is going to be difficult for lots of people tonight.

Anyway, back to the purpose of my post tonight.  My son and his partner, Yvonne, are going to a Christening tomorrow and they liked the box I decorated for my DT week on Snazzy's Blog so they asked me if I could do another one as a special keepsake box for them to give as a gift.  As this one is for a little boy I used blues from the Fresco Finish paints.

I used Fresco Finish paints from PaperArtsy throughout together with their Crackle Glaze and, in the main, stamps designed by Jo Firth-Young for PaperArtsy which you can find here at Snazzy's.  The word stamps round the side are from a very old set from The Stampman's Aspects of Design range but which is probably discontinued now and the little dragonflies are from a couple of clear stamp sets because the PaperArtsy dragonfly which I love was too big for this box.

The quote on the top is from a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 set.  Having been brought up as a child to 'colour within the lines' I find it very difficult to make my painting less precise and end up thinking it looks messy and yet I love to see it done by others.  Jamie and Yvonne liked it though so I shall have to trust that it's ok, lol!

I'm loving these JoFY stamps and want the weather to cool down so I can get in my craftroom again for a play.  At 40c+ today it has been a no-go area!

And now, I'm off to bed and hopefully I will manage some sleep because I think the heat has got to me and my tummy feels quite queasy.

Till next time

Hugs
Lesley  Xx

PS   Something has gone wrong with links to Snazzy's lovely online store and everyway I try takes me to an online clothing website so I will leave the links and report it to Val and Don asap.

PPS Yay!  The naughty person trying to mess with Snazzy's has been shown the door and the links are all back to normal so THIS will take you to the JoFY stamps!

Take care with the heat - it's definitely OTT here too. The colours of this creation are quite delightful & I love the way you combined the touches of green with the basic aqua. the crackle really gives a super effect & again I particularly like the edging along the top.

Another stunning box Lesley, fantastic crackle and beautiful stamping, I bet the gift will be much appreciated! The added words are so right for a christening gift!

Sorry you're not enjoying the heat (I love hot weather)though NOT at night. I'm lucky here in that respect so far, as it is gorgeously warm and sunny during the day but then it cools down at night because we are quite high up. Hope it cools down a bit for you, hang i there!

This is another absolutely beautiful box and something to be treasured for years to come - a thoughtful gift. Take care in the heat - it's brought me to almost standstill too and I was tempted to go out for a drive for the same reasons!! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lesley, thanks for dropping by. Sorry to hear your Mums getting worse. Will be thinking about you, should be abit easier for you when the children have gone.
I'm off to see Occupational Health on Thursday, then a Neurologist next Monday. I keep falling and the doctor tested my legs and I had no feeling until he got to my knee on my left leg. So just waiting to see what he as to say. I have pheriral neorothapy from my chemo. So things are not going to get any better. But I'm still here and that's what matters.
