Finally I have made some Christmas cards and about time too! Actually, I wanted to get these done last week to post on the Snazzys DT Blog but didn't make it in time so I decided to get them done and show them here whilst we are still promoting this lovely Country Cottage Collection papers, stamps and embellishments. I really like this collection mainly because the colours are the gorgeous traditional reds and greens which are my favourites for Christmas. The papers are also really good quality and take inks beautifully. These cards were quite quick to make and used up some of the leftovers from making my Christmas Organiser.
This first one uses a square of the Red Snowflakes design and I overstamped with a snowflake from the stamp collection using Wow Vanilla White EP with some Clear Rock Candy glitter mixed in. I really like this effect as it adds a subtle sparkle (unfortunately couldn't capture it on here) and also gives the EP a rough texture similar to Distress EPs. I then softly inked round the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink, wrapped with satin ribbon and mounted onto a square of ivory pearlescent card which had been dry embossed with a snowflake embossing folder before mounting onto the 6" x 6" base card.
I then cut two of the mini Rosette Snowflakes with my new Tim Holtz/Sizzix die from the Sentiments design paper, inked them slightly with Aged Mahogany DI before swiping with a bit of Flitterglu and sprinkling them with Clear Rock Candy glittter and finally adding the brads from the embellishment pack. I do wish I could have caught the pretty sparkle on this card. This one really does look so pretty in artificial light!
This second card uses the reverse of Red Snowflakes on the top half and the reverse of Sentiments at the bottom separated by a die cut border in ivory pearlescent card and shiny green ribbon.
I cut the poinsettia with another new acquisition, ;D, the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tattered Poinsettia (think I need the little one now, lol), using more of the ivory pearlescent card and some co-ordinating green card, inking round all the edges with Black Soot DI and adding a brad from the embellishment pack to hold it together. Finally I stamped and embossed the Merry Christmas from the stamp set using the Wow Vanilla White EP.
Do pop over to the Snazzy DT blog if you have time where the inspiration from the rest of my DT buddies continues unabated for a couple more weeks yet. There's bound to be some beautiful projects to get you in the mood for Christmas .......... can't wait to see what they come up with myself too!
We had a rather expensive day yesterday :0(. Firstly my OH needed a new pair of glasses unexpectedly as he'd only had his other since February!!!! We followed that up with a visit to our local Comet store to find a new phone. We've been struggling with our other one for yonks but I kept putting off getting a new one ............ toooo lazy to go look, lol! Of course, while we were there and I was concentrating on the phone comparisons Hubby drifted over to the TVs as men tend to do. Result? We came out with a 40" TV (plenty big enough for our cosy lounge) as well a the phone package! Still, that saves me thinking up an Anniversary present ;-) .................... it is our 40th Wedding Anniversary on the 18th November and boy is it scary how fast those 40 years have gone.
Right I'm off to run some errands. Wish I could stay home and craft but needs must. I hope you all have a lovely weekend with plenty of R&R.
Hugs
Lesley Xx

Gorgeous christmas card's love the colours. Caroline xxx
Hiya Lesley - I jumped here from the Snazzy blog to see what the other DT members had been up to with the TC kit (I originally went to comment on Minxy's post as I was on her own blog for the WOYWW feature)... funny how we end up round blog land isn't it?
WOW - I absolutely ADORE your cards. Right up my street... I would never have realised you did the overstamping on the red snowflake paper if you hadn't said - it looks just like it was meant to be.
I love the colours of this kit as they are so traditional - yet she seems to add a modern twist while keeping a vintage look to everything. She's a clever lady that TC. I love her stuff and have been a 'fan' for a while. I've never bought anything though as I buy CD's. I did ask her on her facebook page a while ago if she would consider making her kits available in a digital format as she's missing a whole section of the crafting market who, like me, only really buy digi kits. I think she'd do well! Anyway, I never got a reply but put it down to her being busy.
Again, fab cards - love them both.

oops - forgot to say congrats on your forthcoming 40th Wedding Anniversary. Nice to see people staying together for all those years. My mum and dad didn't quite make it to 41 as my dad died the month before. I'm so glad they made their 40th though. Every wedding anniversary is worth celebrating...
oh - we have a 42" TV and when you go to someones house who have a smaller one - it's like looking at a portable TV. You could never go back!!! Nice anniversary pressie!!!

These cards are so fresh and elegant and I too now need that snowflake die, just don't tell the Headmaster lol!
Hope you and OH have a lovely day on your Anniversary xx
A gorgeous pair of cards here Lesley, so elegant and pretty xx
gorgeous cards Lesley. that TH snowflake really adds something doesn't it. I like the way you stamped the snowflake stamp with the rock candy glitter too.
Hi Lesley
What gorgeous cards you've made. I love that TH snowflake die, think I need to treat myself to that one!!!
I had to laugh at your shopping, that sounds awfully familiar. We did much the same a couple of years ago. My Mum was staying with us and Hubby and I popped out to get something really boring from Curry's like a battery, can't remember exactly. Anyway we came home with a large TV too!!!! We still laugh about it now.
Many congratulations on your 40th Anniversary. I hope you do something very special.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs Lisax
Two gorgeous cards Lesley. I really like the second and have just invested in that poinsettia die as well (still yet to use it). It looks great in the green and white.
Congratulatiosn on your upcoming 40th Wedding anniversary, and enjoy the new tv.

I had to smile at the new TV - we come home with things like a three volume Concordance to the Septuagint that he's found at the bottom of a stack of books in a bookshop. We had to go to Cardiff to sort our MACs yesterday - I came home with 18 Tombow Blender Pens purchased at £1 each (husband insisted that was too good an offer to miss when I mentioned they're normally £3.25 each!)
Congratulations on your coming anniversary.
Love your Black Soot edging & that second card in particular.
Paula (PEP)
Hi Lesley, your cards are both absolutely beautiful. I prefer blues and purples normally but do love the red and green too for Christmas. The green card is particularly elegant.
Your shopping expedition story made me laugh! A 40" TV seems quite appropriate for a Ruby Anniversary present though! Congratulations, and I hope you have a lovely day on the 18th.
Hugs, Lynne x
Lovely work, well done :)
Happy craftin
Rebecca
Gorgeous cards Lesley. I love those snowflakes on the top one - just wish all the sparkle showed up in the photo.
Will it be beans on toast for a while after that shopping trip then. Still - be good to have a nice new telly for the long winter evenings ahead.
Beryl xx
Loving both your fab cards and those great flowers and snowflakes. wow you did have an expensive time didn't you.......lol but such fun. Enjoy the weekend, Annette x

Gorgeous cards Lesley, the colours are lovely. Those papers are really fabulous, aren't they? I haven't used either of my new dies yet, but I'm sure that they will get an airing very soon ;) Your snowflakes and poinsettia both look fab, hugs, Judith xx
Gorgeous cards! I love the red and white snowflakes. The layers of rosette with the two different snowflakes on paper is beautiful. The Poinsettia is beautiful and elegant. Now your hubby has the glasses to see his new big t.v.!
Gorgeous cards, Lesley! I love them both. Your shopping trip made me smile - at least it wasn't by necessity. the day they took our scaffolding down from the new roof was the day the boiler went wrong. It has to limp along for another couple of weeks yet! Feel free to borrow my idea BTW. I am just wondering what other trees to gild!
Two beautiful Christmas Cards! The designs and dimension are fabulous! xx
